We have had a very busy busy week!
For maths we have been learning how to understand co-ordinates. Co-ordinates can be used to either find something on a map, or to put answers down to questions on a grid, which can have 1 quadrant or four. You can remember how to draw or locate co-ordinates with these simple sayings:
1. Walk before you can fly!
2. Across the hallway, then up the stairs.
A year five from our class has a very simple way of explaining what co-ordinates are if you would like a more detailed explanation, here it is below:
co-ordinates are points on a grid, for example, (7, 6) that would be 7 across and 6 up, like the saying run before you can fly.
You should try using co-ordinates because they are easy to learn, and are very helpful!
Secondly this week, we had a very exciting (yet quite scary) visitor. Her name was P.C Keeley and she was a policelady. She taught us on how to keep safe in life. it was really cool, because she was wearing the proper uniform and everything! Thank you for coming in to see us, P.C Keeley!
From all of Sycamore class!

The slideshow below shows:
1. Our coordinate grid made using children and chairs
2. Examples of our first sketches of mountains - these will help us to design and make an amazing finished piece of mountain art
3. Examples of some of the calculations we have been doing in maths - we went on the Transum maths website and had a go at another of their daily challenges, today's was called, 'Maggots' and we had to answer as many maths questions as possible before the maggots infested the screen! Yuck! Here is a link to the web page: http://www.transum.org/software/SW/Starter_of_the_day/starter_February28.asp
